Is your Sanipack activating intermittently? If the answer is yes you most probably need a non return which is also called a discharge elbow which is used for waste disposal .

The non return which is found on the top of the Macerator pumps and connects to the flexible waste pipe stops waste water flowing back in to the Macerator pump and setting it off.

If your waste outlet pipe runs vertical up the wall then out to the soil stack and your Sanipack or any other macerator pumps is activating intermittently then try replacing the non return.

If you live in a hard water area and have never Descaled your Sanipack then the chances are your non return has thick limescale on the rubber return valve and is preventing it from closing and sealing properly.

Activation times can vary, if activates quickly chances are the rubber valve is completely missing, if it takes a while then you have a slow leaky valve.

Sometimes if the rubber on the Sanipack macerator non return doesn’t have limescale damage and is not sealing could be the rubber has been damaged either by a foreign object or the rubber has been damaged by chemicals and the rubber valve has enlarged or is distorted.

If you have to change the valve make sure you use Descaler afterwards to clean out the machine at regular intervals 2-3 times per year.

Other reasons for intermittent starting are faulty Membranes or faulty microswitches.

What is a Sanipack Non Return?

Sanipack is a brand of macerating toilet pumps that are commonly used in areas where traditional plumbing is not possible or practical. One of the key components of a Sanipack system is the non return, which is a crucial part of the system’s functionality.

What Does a Sanipack Non Return Do?

A Sanipack non return is designed to prevent waste from flowing back into the macerator pump unit. It is a one-way valve that ensures that once waste enters the pump, it cannot return back up the pipe. This is important for the proper functioning of the Sanipack system and prevents the possibility of sewage backup.

How Does a Sanipack Non Return Work?

The non return is installed on the discharge pipe of the Sanipack pump. It is designed with a rubber diaphragm that allows waste to flow out of the unit, but not back in. When waste flows through the valve, it pushes the diaphragm up, allowing the waste to pass through. Once the waste has passed, the diaphragm falls back down, creating a seal that prevents any backflow.

Why is a Sanipack Non Return Important?

Without a non return, wastewater could flow back into the pump unit, causing damage and creating a health hazard. It could also lead to sewage backup, which is both unpleasant and potentially dangerous. The non return ensures that wastewater flows in only one direction, preventing these problems from occurring.

Conclusion

In summary, a Sanipack non return is an essential component of the Sanipack macerating toilet system. It prevents wastewater from flowing back into the pump unit, ensuring the proper functioning of the system and preventing sewage backup. By understanding how it works and its importance, you can ensure that your Sanipack system operates smoothly and efficiently.

Why is my Sanipack not turning off?

Sanipack is a popular brand of macerating toilet pumps that are designed to efficiently pump waste water from toilets, sinks and other plumbing fixtures. If your Sanipack system is not turning off, there could be several reasons for it.

1. Faulty Float Switch

One of the most common reasons for a Sanipack not turning off is a faulty float switch. The float switch is responsible for controlling the water level in the grinder unit. If the switch is not working correctly, it may not be able to shut off the unit when the water level reaches a certain point. This can cause Sanipack pumps to continue running even when it’s not needed, leading to increased wear and tear on the system.

2. Clogged Pump

Another reason for a Sanipack pumps not turning off could be a clogged pump internally. If the pump is blocked with debris or waste, it may not be able to turn off once the water level drops. This can cause the unit to continue running, even when it’s not needed, leading to increased energy consumption and potential damage to the macerator pumps.

3. Electrical Issues

If your Sanipack is not turning off, it could be due to electrical issues. This could include a faulty circuit board, damaged wiring, or a malfunctioning motor or damaged microswitch. These issues can prevent the unit from shutting off when it’s supposed to, leading to increased energy consumption and potential damage to the system.

4. Water Pressure Issues

Water pressure issues can also cause some Sanipack pumps not turn off. If the water pressure in your plumbing system is too high, it can cause the Sanipack to leak water and continue running even when it’s not needed. This can lead to increased wear and tear on the system and potential damage to the unit.

5. Installation Issues

Finally, if your Sanipack is not turning off, it could be due to installation issues. If the unit was not installed correctly, it may not be able to function properly, leading to problems like pumps not turning off. In this case, it’s important to have a professional plumber inspect the system and make any necessary repairs or adjustments.

In conclusion, if your Sanipack is not turning off, it could be due to a variety of issues, including a faulty float switch, clogged pump, electrical issues, water pressure issues, or installation issues. It’s important to address these issues as soon as possible to prevent further damage to the system and ensure that it’s functioning properly.

What is a Non-Return Valve?

A non-return valve, also known as a check valve or one-way valve, is a vital component in many plumbing systems. Its primary purpose is to allow fluid to flow in one direction while preventing it from flowing back in the opposite direction. This helps protect your plumbing system and prevents potential damage or contamination from wastewater.

Do Sanipack Systems Have a Non-Return Valve?

Yes, Sanipack systems come equipped with a non-return valve as a standard feature. This valve is built into the unit to ensure that wastewater and sewage can only flow away from your property and towards the main drainage system, preventing any backflow or cross-contamination.

Why is a Non-Return Valve Important in a Sanipack pumps?

The non-return valve is an essential part of the Sanipack system for several reasons:

  • Protection from backflow: The valve stops wastewater from flowing back into your property, which can cause unpleasant odours, hygiene issues and damage to your fixtures and appliances.
  • Maintaining system performance: By preventing backflow, the non-return valve helps maintain the efficiency of your Sanipack system, ensuring that waste is pumped out as required.
  • Compliance with regulations: A non-return valve is necessary to meet plumbing regulations and standards, ensuring your Sanipack system is safe and legal to install.

How to Maintain the Non-Return Valve in Your Sanipack System
